The title catches your eye, but save your judgment for the contents of the book.

From the start, Brian Asman sets you in the middle of this family’s move to a new town with an interesting dynamic between all four family members. Since you’re presented with the typically neurotic mother and the angsty pre-teen daughter set opposite the aloof dad and self-important son playing at being demonic to terrorize his parents, you don’t get a solid footing in the story before it takes off.

I spent the beginning half of the book unsure if it was meant to be a haunted house, or if the son was really good at his elaborate pranks. Every time I thought I had it figured out, the narrative would shift and I’d second-guess myself. As a result, once it became clear what was really happening, I was both taken off guard and pleasantly surprised at the plot direction.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It was funny, weird, tense, spooky, and felt as if Stephen King’s Rose Red were made into an absurdist comedy written by Don DeLillo or Thomas Pynchon.

Man, Fuck This House by Brian Asman is a quick and fun read on your Kindle.
